HHS Extends PHE by An Additional 90 Days

On Thursday, January 7, 2021, former HHS Secretary Alex Azar announced an extension of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency (PHE). This PHE was initially declared on January 31, 2020 (with acknowledgement that it has existed since January 27th). Any PHE declaration can only last for 90 days at a time, but can be extended or renewed. HHS Provider Relief Fund Reporting Requirements Released

HHS has released additional details regarding the post-payment reporting requirements for the HHS Provider Relief Fund. Any provider who received a payment or payments from any round or phase (Medicare or Medicaid) of the $50B General Distribution totaling more than $10,000 are required to submit reports showing how the money was used. HHS has released additional details regarding the reporting requirements that recipients of the Provider Relief Fund will be expected to adhere to in order to comply with the Terms and Conditions of receiving the funds. These funds were sent or deposited in their accounts automatically, without any request or application required.
